OHSAS 18001 is an Occupational Health and Safety Management Standard developed to bridge the gap where no current ISO standard exists. With this in mind, OHSAS 18001 has been designed to be compatible with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.


The first version of OHSAS 18001 appeared in 1999, being a development of existing health and safety standards that had been created by leading experts in standards. The latest version, OHSAS 18001:2007, helps organisations assess health and safety risks at work through effective planning, improved structures & responsibility and ongoing test & measurement of their controls.
