ULS’s Finance Officer, Colin Allinson was responsible for implementing the Quality Management Standard, and explained why introducing ISO 9001 was important to the progression of the business:
“If a potential client sees that you have ISO 9001 certification, it immediately gives them a sense of security that you are a business being run properly and professionally.
We wanted to bring the way our company’s run up to the standards expected in ISO 9001 and be able to add a significant level of credibility to how our company performs, from a trusted source.”
Colin explained how the British Assessment Bureau were able offer the desired level of service to Universal Language Solutions:
“From my first conversation with BAB, I was confident they were going to be able to help me in the way I wanted.
The plan BAB laid out for us achieving ISO 9001 was sensible, systematic and achievable. They didn’t want to get things rushed through as quickly as possible to receive earlier payment from us; they wanted things to be done properly, all for our benefit.”
As a new company, ULS were doing lots of things from scratch. Their Auditor was an invaluable contact throughout the process;
“The Stage 1 Audit was an eye-opener in terms of how much work was needed, but our Auditor was very encouraging and reassuring. They filled me confidence that everything we had to do was comfortably achievable.”
After the Stage 1 Audit, ULS slightly delayed progression due to internal time restraints. Colin explained how the team at BAB were supportive and accommodating:
“They never rushed me to get things done, they offered support and really took the pressure off me – which was exactly what I needed.”
Their Auditor made their standard relevant to the business, which was hugely beneficial.
“Our Auditor clearly knew their stuff and was very thorough – something I appreciated, given that it was our first time doing something like this. The knowledge sharing was very helpful.”
The introduction of ISO 9001’s robust processes is really helping business at ULS.
“The peace of mind that comes with completing the process and being confident you’re running your business properly, is absolutely priceless. We are all better for having done this and that’s a great feeling!”
The customer service and communication with the BAB team throughout the process has been the highlight for Colin:
“I never felt hesitant to send an email or pick up the phone – I always knew I would be met with a friendly and constructive response.”
