Peter retired from respected Kent based law firm T G Baynes in 2007, having risen from articled clerk to Senior Partner and then Chairman. His role consisted of general liaison with overall responsibility for Management and administration of the Practice. Throughout his career, Peter held responsible positions in the Law Society, becoming President of the Bexley & Dartford branch in 1982/3. He has also been an active member of the Sidcup Rotary Club since 1993 and served as President in 2005/6. Peter has a practical understanding of quality standards in the guise of the Lexel standard and brings vast commercial experience and a sharp analytical mind to the Impartiality Committee. He was elected Chairman in June 2009.
David has unparalleled experience at both national and international levels in the manufacturing sector with particular experience of setting up production facilities in the UK and China. David is one of the rare breed of engineer and entrepreneur. His engineering career began at Molins PLC, followed by senior production engineering roles at Lesney Products and Marley Roof Tiles. He joined Kentinental Engineering in 1985 and became their Managing Director in 1988 and then subsequently led a management buy out in 1992. In 2004 Kentinental transferred 90% of its production to the Far East and David played a major role in securing manufacturing capabilities in China. This experience has led to David becoming a sought after speaker for “doing business in China” seminars. He has also been a member of the CBI South East region representing small businesses. David has unparalleled experience at both national and international levels in the manufacturing sector.
Sue accepted an invitation to join the Impartiality Committee in 2009. Sue’s career began in the Petroleum industry and she also has experience of setting up businesses in the Food and Retail sectors. Later in her career, Sue decided to offer her services to the Charity sector and became a fundraising manager. She went on to help establish the National Association of Hospice Volunteer Co-ordinators and the National Association of Hospice Fundraisers (NAHF). Sue served on the executive of the NAHF and acted as membership secretary. She brings practical experience of running SME businesses to the Impartially Committee and high-level knowledge of working in the Voluntary and Charity sectors.
Malcolm is a retired Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building. Malcolm’s career started as a designer of water and drainage schemes for laboratories at Sussex University. His distinguished career has seen him work on a number of overseas projects including the 1,600 bed Kenyatta Hospital in Nairobi. He has also been Construction Manager for a number of major builds in the UK, including the Britoil headquarters in Glasgow, UCL Hospital and the Lords Cricket ground. Malcolm now donates his time to helping local charities. His experience of the construction industry is extensive and he accepted an invitation to join the British Assessment Bureau’s Impartiality Committee in 2009.
